That Devil is gone, done, in the dust....

Thank you LORD!!!

Thank you Teampink4britt prayer warriors!!!Thank you family!!! We made it!!! I choose to celebrate every single victory along this journey and this was a HUGE one.

Overcoming Red Devil, chemo treatment # 1, has been nothing short of examples of God's hand in it and the answer to prayers. I was told when I went for my Chemo teaching that the RED DEVIL was rough and to prepare myself to be out of work for up to 8 weeks, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, low platelets, mouth sores, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, headaches, fevers, total hair loss, numbness in hands and feet and the list goes on and on. We prepared for the worst. My sweet husband bought gloves, special cleaning wipes and etc. because if I did vomit after chemo and he touched it, he could experience the same side effects I had. I'm here to tell you, he hasn't had a need for those gloves and cleaning wipes, because my GOD saw me thru. Never really experience a loss of appetite either, if anything it's picked up due to the steroids. Food does not have much of a taste, but I'm still sitting at the table eating. LOLLOL... If you have been keeping up with my blog you know that I haven't been out of work for no 8 weeks either. I've been pretty consistent with this regimen if I get a treatment on Friday and take it easy until Wednesday I'm usually good and wanting to work the rest of that week and the following. That seems to have been the sweet spot for this regimen for me anyways. To have had such a powerful chemo drug and to only experience fatigue, shortness of breath and some headaches and hair loss along the way I take that as a HUGE victory. I give you guys and God all the praise. Your prayers have seen me thru this first phase.

What's next you might ask??

Well, I will be having a diagnostic mammogram on Friday, September 27th. After the mammogram, I will go ahead and have my first "Weekly" dose of the new chemo drug Taxol. Depending on my mammogram results will determine if they will add an additional drug to that regimen. I will get weekly chemo for at least 12 weeks. This drug is not supposed to be as brutal as Red Devil so I'm praying for it to go just as well. A little funny for ya. Yawl, my doctor is a firecracker... I just love her because she is honest and straight to the point with your questions. I asked her "So can I expect my body to handle this drug like the last and my good days be two days after treatment before I crash?" Her response was "This is a total different regimen so it's a whole different ball game, but since you handled the last drug so good I'm hoping you will do the same with this one, but don't go be a WEIRDO." lolol.. So my goal is not to be a WEIRDO LOL.... :) I'm going to continue to take it one step at a time and worry about what's right in front of me. So yawl pray I'm not a weirdo on Taxol and we breeze right thru it.

PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray that my platelet numbers stay in range, and that my body will recover well from this last red devil treatment. The doctors stated I could experience side effects up to 4 weeks from this last dose. Pray that my body recovers quickly and is ready to fight Taxol on the 27th. The Lord ask us to come to him and be specific, I ask that you pray that the mammogram will show no signs of cancer and that no additional drug will need to be added to the plan.

Until next time,

XOXO Britney
